Yesterday Market Summary

It was a flat close for our market that underperformed its global peers. But it was a volatile day of trade with market showing some nervousness. Result season kicks off with Infosys tomorrow. Sensex shut shop at 16843, up 36 and Nifty at 5002, up 16 points from the previous close. CNX Midcap index was up 0.67% and BSE Smallcap index was up 0.22%. The market breadth was negative with advances at 584 against declines of 677 on the NSE. Top Nifty gainers included Cipla, Siemens andTata Motors while losers were Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications and Sun Pharma.
