It was a lacklustre day of trade and the market closed in the negative. Sensex shut shop at 17125, down 102 points and Nifty at 5112, down 35 points from the previous close. CNX Midcap index was down 0.67% and BSE Smallcap index was up 0.36%. The market breadth was negative with advances at 618 against declines of 652 on the NSE. Top Nifty gainers included Idea, Maruti and Reliance Power while losers were Tata Steel, Sterlite and Hindalco.
